Wolf Meeting
Den 25
October 18th, 2005
Almost all Scouts are ready for Bobcat Badge
Started of Den Meeting with Cub Scout Salute and Pledge of Allegiance
Dean Mayo brought a Flag and showed all scouts how to properly fold the flag and
explained why it is important to never let the Flag get dirty or touch the
ground.
Went to the front of the school and practiced a flag ceremony and all scouts
saluted the flag expressing the importance of being silent and saluting the flag
on the way up and when it is being taken down. Then scouts practiced folding the
flag again.
All Scouts Completed Achievement 2
On the way back to the room from the Flag ceremony we practiced and expressed
the importance of using a cross walk. (Page 86) Explained to the scouts that it
is important to help Children and Elderly safely across roads and to always look
both way before they cross.
Before we ended the meeting we talked about making a collection (Page 71) and
bringing it to the next meeting to share with the other scouts. Kind' a like a
show and tell.
We have started using a candle to signify the light of our Den and that as long
as each member follows the Cub Scout Code during the meeting then the Candle
will stay lit. After the candle burns to a mark we have put on the candle, then
we will plan a special treat for the scouts to signify excellent behavior and
unity during the meetings.
Next Weeks Meeting
Next week I have made a Health Habits Chart on Microsoft Excel for the kids to
help them achieve requirement 3a.
I have also talked to another den member about bringing and identifying common
tools.
I plan on going by a Fire Dept and scheduling a tour of the fire house and
trucks.
Planning to Play the game "What's in the Bag" where scouts do exercises to make
sure they know all the requirements of the Bobcat so they can get there badge at
the next Pack Meeting.
Plan to do a Rescue Round Robin Where the scouts can practice First Aid, Using
the Phone in an Emergency, and Fire Safety
If we have anytime left over we will do the Akela Maze and will go over more
stuff in the book.
Tonight is the first night I have received the "Cub Scout Program Helps" book
and realize our Den would probly be better off using the book. I plan to talk to
the other Den Members about being more organized and using the Program Book for
activities, games, songs, and crafts.
See Ya Next Week! David Krambeck
